Carers Support leafCarers Support

Caring for someone experiencing mental health problems can be difficult. The Carers Support Project can put you in contact with other carers through the monthly support group and offers a range of other supports too.

If you give emotional or practical support to a family member or friend who is experiencing mental health problems, then you are a "carer”. Carers can be partners, parents, friends, siblings, sons, daughters and other relatives.

What’s on Offer?

The project offers a wide range of support to people aged 16 and above living in the Falkirk area. The service is free and is not time limited.  At present we can offer you:

  • One-to-one support – home visits can be arranged if necessary
  • Information on mental health problems / issues and carers rights.
  • Information about other local services that may be of benefit
  • Informal support groups – sharing with others can reduce the feeling of isolation that carers sometimes experience.
  • Education Course – “Living With Mental Health Problems”
  • The Carers Worker also seeks to ensure that carers’ opinions and needs are considered by statutory services providers at a local level and is able to raise any concerns or comments through attendance at various partnership agency meetings. However, in order to do so, we need your help: if you are interested in becoming more involved in this, or indeed any other aspect of our work, or you simply want further information then please contact our Carer’s Worker.

This service is available to adults living in Falkirk District. If you wish to access the service you can contact us directly or another service may refer you. You can be involved with this service for as long as you wish.
