Counselling can help you to explore problem areas in your life and support you to bring about changes that will empower you to make new and positive choices / decisions. Our trained counsellors will work with you in a supportive and safe environment where you can talk openly about your concerns and problems and help you work towards leading a more satisfying, less troubled lifestyle.
About the service
The counselling service is accredited by COSCA (Counselling and Psychotherapy in Scotland). Service provision is free of charge and is open to anyone aged 16 and over living in the Falkirk and District area. You can’ self refer’ or be referred to us by, for example, your GP or other health professional or social worker. To ‘self refer’ simply call us on the number given at the top of the page. Referrals from GP’s etc. should be made by completing the attached referral form.
Following referral you will be offered an initial appointment with one of our counselling co-ordinators. The purpose of this meeting is for you to find out more about counselling, for our co-ordinator to find out a little about you and to discuss whether or not you wish to proceed in working with us. Should you choose to do so, you will be matched with one of our trained counsellors and offered approximately 8 one hourly sessions in the first instance. You will meet with the same counsellor, usually on at the same time and on the same day each week.
Counselling sessions are currently available each weekday from 10am to 3pm and on Wednesday evenings at 7 and 8pm, although spaces for evening counselling are currently very limited. Your personal preferences re time and day will be discussed with you.
It is important for you to note that due to the high demand for our service we currently have a waiting list for appointments.
