Volunteering
“Volunteers don't get paid, not because they're worthless, but because they're priceless”.
(Sherry Anderson)
We are in no doubt that without the contribution of our volunteers FDAMH would not be able to offer the range of services that we do! Our volunteers, young and older, come from all walks of life and receive training and support appropriate to their role within the organisation.
We are always in need of additional volunteers! In return for giving us some of your time we can offer you the opportunity to meet new people, enhance your skill base or develop new skills but more importantly you will be making a significant difference to other people’s lives. We hope that it will also be personally rewarding. You need only devote a couple of hours of your time and any expenses you incur will be reimbursed. If you think that you would be interested in joining us then please complete and return the application form or if you want further information then give us a call on 01324 671600.

Current Volunteering Opportunities
Volunteers for our Board of Trustees:If you are a dynamic and motivated person with some time to spare and an interest in mental wellbeing, we would like to hear from you. We are presently seeking volunteers for our Board of Trustees, if you would like to know more click here.
Volunteer Befrienders: No formal experience is required to become a volunteer befriender as we provide comprehensive, in house training. You just need to have a genuine interest in people, good listening skills and patience and be willing to devote a few hours of your time each week or fortnightly for a minimum of one year. Please see the Befriending Service page for additional information.
Volunteer Counsellors: If you hold a Diploma in Counselling or you are looking for a training placement whilst undertaking your studies then you could join our very busy, generic counselling service. This service is available to people presenting with a broad range of problem issues therefore you will gain invaluable counselling skills experience. We offer sessions each week day from 9 – 4pm and on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7 – 10pm. Please see the Counselling Service page for additional information.
Link Work Volunteers: Jane Shirra, our Link Worker, has never had volunteers attached to her specific service before! She would dearly love to change this situation. Jane’s job is quite specific within FDAMH insofar as she provides more intensive, individual support to her service users with the aim of supporting them to re-connect with the wider community and the services that are on offer. Please see the Link Service page for additional information and consider taking on this ‘pioneering’ role with Jane.
Drop-in Volunteers: Our drop-in service is always in need of volunteers who would be willing to give up a couple of hours of their time to help support this busy project which opens from 10am-4pm Monday – Thursday and 10am-3pm on Fridays. We are also open for a short period, 2pm-5pm, on Saturday afternoons.
Administrative Volunteers: There is always something needing done in our busy office!! It may be answering the telephone, meeting and greeting our visitors at reception or helping us with photocopying / filing. If you think that you can help then please either complete our volunteer application form or give us a call if you want to chat about this rol
