Our Highly Commended Newcomer Choir “Freedom Of Mind” extend a warm invitation to all to their joyful singing event at the Forth Valley Royal on Wednesday the 5th of October. The event is part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival and is also celebrating World Mental Health Awareness Day.
FDAMH developed their very first choir in February for FDAMH service users, volunteers and staff. Since February we have had over 20 people sign up to the choir and continue to enjoy coming each week. The positive feedback from those involved has been overwhelming with many feeling uplifted and more connected with their community.
For many, singing in this choir has put them on the path to recovery and is bringing hope and happiness to those who are lacking in confidence and self-belief.
Our “Freedom Of Mind” Choir had their first performance in June at the Kelpies which was extremely successful and won them their first award from Scotland Sings. We are now pushing ourselves to do a singing event for the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival and will be supported by some individuals from other choirs in the community who would also like to advocate singing as a means of therapy.
Revelling in the joy of music and performance, this event intends to promote the massive positive effects singing can have on a person as well as to raise awareness of how to improve wellbeing, mental health and be involved in the community.
The event takes place at 7pm in the main foyer of Forth Valley Royal Hospital. There are no tickets but it would be great if you could give us an indication of if you are coming in order for us to be able to accommodate seating requirements. Just email Emily!
We’re all really excited to see you there!
