Feeling 10ft tall thanks to FVC students

Do you love a treat? Most people do, they’re life’s little bright moments that give us great pleasure. But for a number of reasons some people are rarely able to indulge and enjoy the life-affirming benefits a ‘treat’ brings.

We wanted to offer some real personal treats to some of our Third Age Befriending clients that don’t often treat themselves, or haven’t experienced the luxury of a small beauty treatment, like a facial. That’s where generous students at Forth Valley College’s ‘Salon at the Campus’ stepped in.

The Salon at the Campus offers a huge range of services and treatments at a massively discounted price provided by Hair and Beauty students. Eight of our clients went along on Thursday and Friday and received facials and haircuts, including a luxurious blow dry — well, all except Bill!

The group were treated like Royalty, with friendly, welcoming staff and more tea and coffee than they could drink. They thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience:

“I feel ten feet tall. That was marvellous”
“I haven’t had my hair done by a professional in over 4 years, I just never treated myself. I can’t believe how wonderful that was, the girls were so lovely and I feel a million dollars. Thank you.”

And what better accolade than repeat business? One of the group, who hadn’t been to a hairdressers in a long time, was so delighted she immediately booked herself in for her next appointment!

In addition to indulging our clients, the Salon very generously gave us all the treatments for free to support our older adults and FDAMH. We are hugely grateful for this very kind and generous gift and would like to send a very big thank you to all the wonderful staff and students, including Wendy Gentles, Heather Anderson, Tracey Copeland and Nicky McKenzie. Their kindness made a very welcome impact on our gorgeous clients.

The salon offers a fantastic range of Hair and Beauty treatments on a Thursday and Friday at all Forth Valley Campuses. Find out more

Again, our thanks to Forth Valley College Salon for making us all brighter and more beautiful, as if that was possible!
