The Social Spark Service has been growing day-by-day since our last update! We have even more social contact and activity groups on the go with more to come in the near future. Thanks must go to our great team of volunteers for helping us to achieve this!

Our fabulous groups now include…
• Monthly Cinema Group
• Creative Writing Group
• Pool Group
• Creative Women’s Group
• Fishing Group
• Young Women’s Group
• Plus Five Tea and a Blether Groups

The Social Spark are also able to offer one-to-one befriending and a buddy scheme, this service is for people who may need more input from the service to help build up confidence and can be offered for a little as one month up to at the most one year.

The evolution of Health and Wellbeing Drop-In into The Central Spark is now fully up and running. This service can be accessed by referring to Social Spark. Based at our centre on Victoria Road, the Central Spark is for people who do not have the confidence to join one of our many community-based groups and is focussed on helping people to reach a point where they are able to do this or access other groups in the wider community.

We work with all Central Spark clients on a Personal Development Plan to establish what the person would like to achieve by coming to the service and to decide on attendance times. Within Central Spark we will then work with them to help achieve their identified goal, supported by access to our psychoeducational courses including Positive Wellbeing, Self Esteem and Communication and Seasons for Growth.

As a person’s confidence builds we can then look at what groups they can access either through Social Spark or within the wider community. When the person has joined another group, the time spent in Central Spark is either reduced or will come to an end.
