Since February this year over 20 people have signed up to our Freedom of Mind Choir and new people continue to come every week. The positive feedback from those involved has been overwhelming with many feeling uplifted and more connected with their community.
“I really like this group, it’s fab!”
“I can’t believe I found my voice again”
“I can’t wait until next week!”
“It’s fab and marvellous and it makes you feel great”
“I’ve made lots of new friends”
“It’s what Wednesday afternoons are for!”
“I feel so relaxed”
For many, singing in this choir has put them on the path to recovery and is bringing hope and happiness to those who are lacking in confidence and self-belief.
Our Freedom Of Mind Choir are now ready for their first performance, taking place at the Kelpies in June, and will be supported by individuals from other choirs in the community who would also like to advocate singing as a means of therapy. The event will celebrate the massive positive effects singing can have on a person as well as raise awareness of mental health, how to improve wellbeing and the benefits of being involved in the community.
The event will take place on Friday the 17th of June at 7pm at the Kelpies Visitor Centre. Tickets are free, but there are only a limited amount – so get them quick by calling FDAMH on 01324 671600 or by asking at FDAMH’s reception.
