Our Patrons
We are delighted to have the support of:
Dennis Canavan (Patron, since 2008)
Dennis has been a Patron of FDAMH since 2008. He was a local MP, then MSP for a total of 33 years until his retirement in 2007. Before his election to Parliament, he was an Assistant Headteacher. He was Convener of the Cross-Party Sports Group in the Scottish Parliament and is a firm believer in the value of sport for mental as well as physical well-being.
Dennis says “I consider it a great honour to be Patron of such a distinguished organisation. For over a third of a century, FDAMH has helped countless numbers of people with mental health issues by providing light in a dark place. Long may that light continue to shine”.
Alan Bissett (Patron, since 2010)
Alan grew up in Hallglen, Falkirk and is a celebrated author and performer. Although Alan’s work takes him all over the world at times, he maintains strong links with Falkirk and helps to raise FDAMH’s profile whenever he can. In addition our creative groups have been very fortunate to benefit from his expertise on a number of occasions.
