Important changes to Drop-In

FDAMH’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Drop-In Service is changing! The service, which is changing its name to Central Spark, will come under the umbrella of FDAMH’s thriving Social Spark Service so that we can offer a more beneficial range of pathways and progression for people using both services.

For those who are already familiar with Social Spark and FDAMH, you know that we are constantly monitoring and evaluating our services. We look for ways to improve service provision and adapt services to meet changing needs or demands and make best use of all our resources.

Central Spark will offer a new starting point for people who may not be ready to participate in the wide-variety of community-based social contact groups currently offered within the Social Spark service. By attending Central Spark people will be able to come into our centre for up to 4 half days each week. Each person will work closely with the Central Spark’s new Recovery Worker on their individual Personal Development Plan, ensuring that people are moving forward in their recovery and pursuing goals that they’ve identified as important to them. Whilst attending Central Spark people will have access to a range of helpful activities and psychoeducational courses and the service allows people to meet others and begin the process of getting back out there into the community with developing confidence and renewed self-esteem and self-worth.

If you have any questions about the new service, please contact Michele Reap, Social Spark Manager.

Thanks to our community for a great Christmas party!

Christmas Party

FDAMH Mental Health & Wellbeing Drop-In had their annual Christmas party on Friday 21st of December. For many of our service users, this may be their only opportunity to come together during the Festive period.

We were overwhelmed at the kind and generous donations from Falkirk supermarkets, retailers and organisations, as well as individuals, that helped make this party special. They have helped us provide a great party for over 35 adults and we have a little left over to help make Christmas Eve at FDAMH cheerful and welcoming too!

We would like to thank:
Jock and Yvonne at Denny Co-op, Kevin and Nicolle at Grangemouth Asda, Jamie at Sainsbury’s in Denny, Costa Coffee in the Central Retail park, Maley’s Chocolates, Laura in Boots at the Retail Park, and Debenhams Falkirk for their kind donations. Without their support we couldn’t have put on such a great afternoon!

Thanks also to everyone who has handed in gifts of treats for staff and volunteers alike. It is very much appreciated.

Reminder of Closure

From 22nd Jan FDAMH will close for one week for refurbishment. All services will be unavailable while our staff use the time for training and development work (in between moving furniture!). FDAMH re-opens on Monday 29th January with a shiny new Drop-In kitchen and a fresh coat of paint throughout! We are sorry for the disruption but hope you will all appreciate having our lovely centre looking at its best.

Update on Service Activity

At FDAMH we always like to be transparent about our service activity. In line with previous years we have released our Services’ Half Year Report to provide a brief update on the volume of work we’ve been providing and any recent changes, developments and challenges we’ve been facing.

The report includes coverage of the continued increase in demand for services, especially Immediate Help; the positive benefits of our growing Activity Group programme; rotation of our Social Prescribing Service to reach more of our community; expansion of evening Counselling to help tackle waiting times; continued developments for both Befriending Services in response to client and volunteer feedback; strengthening support for families; improved ongoing support for volunteers; and the growing reputation of our Training Academy which is now a social enterprise.
