Tightrope Music Video Released

Members of FDAMH’s Freedom of Mind Choir feature in Kim Edgar’s brand new music video, filmed at the Kelpies this spring. We are delighted to have Kim as our choir leader, and choir members were thrilled at this opportunity to take part in the music video.

Kim is a full time musician, singer and songwriter, performing her own work and also touring with European group, CARA. ‘Tightrope’ is a single from her new album ‘Stories Untold’.

Kim is using her video to encourage people to donate to FDAMH to support the work we do. You can donate here.

This is an M&S sponsorship…

FDAMH’s Business & Community Engagement Officer, Jim Stewart, said “We are delighted to be chosen as the charity of the year by such an iconic brand. We’re looking forward to working closely with M&S Community Champion, Amy Cowan, on taking this partnership forward.”

The partnership will see various in store fundraising events throughout the year, as well as M&S staff taking part in FDAMH organised events, and volunteering for the charity.

FDAMH will also benefit by receiving funds from the Carrier Bag charge.

Tommy is Pride of Forth Valley

We’re very happy to let you know that Tommy Hamilton, the brains and energy behind our spectacular No Men Nevis fundraiser, recently won the 2016 Pride of Forth Valley Award for Contribution to Charity! We think Tommy is a very well deserved winner and are very glad the judging panel thought so too.

[embed]https://youtu.be/qtacOgxC-3A[/embed]

Tommy’s efforts and incredible skill at encouraging so many people in the community to take part and support FDAMH has raised over £67,000. But added to that, the event has done fantastic work in terms of raising awareness of mental health and FDAMH’s presence in the community.

Tommy says “Thanks – tho it’s kinda an award for us all. I’m hopeful others will be nominated next year for helping FDAMH. I’m hopeful that more people can help keep FDAMH in the press by going out and raising money…. Also thanks to everyone who helped run the event, took part or even sponsored someone.”

So, the challenge has been made! If you want to help fundraise for FDAMH in 2017 please get in touch with our Community Fundraising Officer, Jim Stewart.

Singer? We want YOU!

Raise your voice for wellbeing

We’re extending a warm invitation to singers from across Forth Valley and beyond to join us for our Big Sing event at Forth Valley Royal Hospital this October!

The event takes place on 5th October to highlight the great health and social benefits of singing together and to celebrate the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival (SMHAFF) 2016!

Our own Freedom of Mind Choir is hard at work rehearsing for the event but we would love other singers and choir members from across the community to come together and sing with us in the true spirit of the event.

We are holding rehearsals on the 14th September in the Forth Valley Royal Lecture Theatre from 6pm to 9pm and on the 5th October 2-4pm and 5-7pm, just prior to the performance at 7pm. To help you rehearse we can provide sound files and copies of the music.

Please get in touch with Emily Stewart at FDAMH if you think you could join us. You can also phone Emily on 01324 671600.

Kristina & John set their sights high for FDAMH!

Kristina_John_Everest

Local couple will reach the highest of heights this December for FDAMH! Why? Because they want to say thank-you!

Kristina Sefleriene and John Wells are planning a 15 day trek to the base camp of the highest mountain in the world — Mount Everest!

Kristina said, “We both used the services of FDAMH and are so grateful for all the support its people have given us. FDAMH has truly provided us with the light when we were in a dark place.
This trek signifies the end of a very hard period in our lives. It will be hard and painful but we are going to reach our summit.
Your donations will give us strength on our journey and will allow FDAMH to provide help to even more people. FDAMH provides psychological support to all and we want to say Thank You FDAMH! It will be tough but we have to do this for ourselves and for FDAMH.”

Stuart McCallum, Fundraising and Partnership Manager at FDAMH, said “It is incredible what Kristina and John are undertaking and we are thoroughly delighted they are doing it for FDAMH. I would urge everyone to visit their fundraising page and support them in their fabulous challenge. Thank you to them both and very best of luck!
