New Training is Well Received
We’re pleased with the feedback we’ve been getting from our new Introductory Mental Health Awareness Training Course. The course takes 3 hours and is intended as a basic introduction to mental health. It is suitable for any members of staff or volunteers that work with members of the public. We are delighted to have Dr. Jenny Lim on board to deliver the course. Jenny worked as a GP in Grangemouth for 16 years and during that time became involved in community health. With a particular interest in mental health and wellbeing Dr. Lim trained as a Scottish Mental Health First Aid trainer in 2005 and has delivered this and other mental wellbeing training courses, including Stress Control, since then. Additional training in Counselling has augmented her breadth of knowledge in the management of mental distress and illness and she firmly believes that the key to improved mental wellbeing is the dissemination of knowledge and understanding of mental health across our communities to equip people, both professional and lay people to support others in times of distress.
Upcoming dates for the course are: 25th June, 16th July. For more detail click here

Final Total from the Gingerbread Cafe Fundraiser!
Our gratitude goes out to everyone at Polmont’s Gingerbread Cafe (purveyors of fine gingerbread and many other delicious treats) and all those who attended their terrific fundraiser event last month. The event raised funds for three different groups and we are delighted to have received a cheque for £122, presented by Anya to members of our Women’s Group (pictured). Our Women’s Group took part in the day and also raised funds by selling their Bonnie Buttons and hosting a raffle, altogether this brings our total for the day to £235! This money will be used to support the Women’s Group.

Boost to Anxiety Management Courses at FDAMH
Last week we were delighted to receive notice that the Agnes Hunter Trust has approved a grant to help fund two of our 8-week Anxiety Management courses. Originally a course for people using the Link/Social Prescribing Service, this training has proven extremely beneficial to those taking part and we have opened it out to people using other FDAMH services. To help cope with demand we wished to increase the number of times this course is run each year and this new funding will help us to achieve that. For more about the Anxiety Management Course please visit the Training section of our website.
