Get in touch if you’d like to Branch Out

A group of service users are currently taking part in the Branching Out programme in the grounds of Forth Valley Royal Hospital, enjoying guided woodland activities for people with experience of mental health problems. Such has been the success of the project and the very positive response of those taking part, that we are looking for people currently using services at FDAMH who would be interested in signing up for another Branching Out programme.

The ‘Branching Out’ programme offers regular activities in a woodland setting, including nature conservation, art, exercise and relaxation, over a twelve-week period for three hours per week. This can improve mental well-being and physical health, offer new skills and provide opportunities for socialising.

The programme is delivered in Forth Valley by Forestry Commission Scotland and NHS Forth Valley, with support from Forth Valley College. If you would be interested in joining in please ask to speak to Robert or Susan (our Drop-In team). Susan has been attending with the current group (and loving every minute) and will be able to tell you all about it!

Counselling Service Re-opens to Referrals

We are pleased to announce that we are now accepting referrals for free counselling at FDAMH for all adults aged 16 and over. We had taken the decision to close our waiting list some weeks ago due to the unacceptable waiting times people were facing. Fortunately, additional funding, has meant that we have been able to continue to accept referrals for those aged 16 to 24 throughout this time. The cessation of referrals to those out with this age group has allowed us to target our resources at getting more of the people still waiting for counselling seen. With the waiting list now substantially reduced we are now able to begin accepting new referrals. Referrals should be made in the same way as before. To make a referral please visit our Counselling Page.

SAMH in pool contest shocker!

Pool Contest
Tuesday heralded a visit from SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health) in Alloa, who were over for a pool competition with our Drop-in members. SAMH were a few people short, so generously, some of our members helped out by joining their team. This was why they won! We look forward to a return visit to Alloa in the coming months.

Important News about the Veterans Group

It is with regret that the Veterans group, which ran fortnightly from FDAMH, will no longer be meeting with immediate effect. We thank those that attended and we may revisit this situation in the future if the need arises.
